Finding Your Footing in the Beautiful Chaos
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
It’s Saturday morning, and if you’re anything like me, your 'day of rest' currently involves a mountain of laundry that has reached sentient status and a toddler who thinks 5:15 AM is prime time for a drum solo. Sometimes it feels like you're just a glorified snack-dispenser and referee, doesn't it? You’re pouring out so much of yourself that you’re practically running on the fumes of a cold latte. But look at that verse again. God isn't pushing you with a cattle prod to 'do better' or 'be more.' He’s gently leading you. He knows you have 'young.' He knows about the sticky handprints on the windows and the mental load of remembering everyone’s soccer schedule. He isn't surprised by your exhaustion or your short fuse. He sees the 'you' behind the 'mom,' and He’s carrying you close to His heart while you carry everyone else. Today, let the guilt go. You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to be His. Take a breath, let Him lead the way, and maybe leave that laundry for tomorrow.
Lord, thank You for holding me close when I feel like I'm falling apart. Help me feel Your gentle lead today, even in the middle of the noise. Amen.
