He Gently Leads Your Tired Heart
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
It’s Wednesday, and if you’re anything like me, your 'internal batteries' warning light has been blinking since yesterday afternoon. Maybe you’re currently hiding in the pantry for thirty seconds of peace, or perhaps you’re bracing yourself for the school-run chaos. It’s easy to feel like the world is constantly demanding more of you—more snacks, more rides, more emotional labor—and doing it at a breakneck speed. But look at how God treats you, specifically as a mom. He doesn't drive you like a drill sergeant; He 'gently leads' those who have young. He knows you’re carrying a heavy load, literally and figuratively. He sees the way you worry about your teen’s choices and the way you patiently wipe the same sticky spot on the counter for the fifth time. He isn’t tapping His watch, waiting for you to get your act together. He’s right there in the thick of the PB&J crusts and the laundry mountain, offering a pace that includes grace. Today, breathe. You don't have to sprint. You’re being led by a Shepherd who actually likes you and loves your kids even more than you do.
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the mess of this Wednesday. Help me feel Your gentle lead today and remind me that I don't have to do it all perfectly to be held by You. Amen.
