When You Feel Like You’re Running Low
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
You’re probably reading this with a lukewarm cup of coffee in one hand and a stray Lego dangerously close to your foot. It’s Thursday, that strange middle-ground where the weekend is in sight, but the laundry pile is still mocking you. Sometimes, the weight of being 'the one who knows where everything is' feels like a backpack full of heavy rocks. You worry if the toddler’s meltdown in the grocery store is a sign of your failing, or if your teenager’s eye-roll is a wall you’ll never climb over. But look at how Isaiah describes God’s heart for you: He gently leads those who have young. He isn’t behind you with a stopwatch or a clipboard, grading your performance. He’s right there in the messy kitchen, carrying your children close to His heart and keeping a steady, gentle pace for you. He knows you’re tired. He knows your heart is tender. Today, give yourself permission to exhale. You aren’t just a manager of schedules or a wiper of noses; you are a daughter being led by a Shepherd who thinks you are doing a beautiful job, even on the days you feel like a total disaster.
Lord, thank you for meeting me in the middle of this busy morning. Please carry my burdens and my babies today, and help me feel Your gentle hand leading me through the chaos. Amen.
