When You’re Tired of Leading the Way

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”

— Isaiah 40:11

It’s Friday, and if you’re like me, your 'patience tank' is currently flashing a low-fuel light. Maybe your morning started with a cold cup of coffee and a warm puddle of mystery juice on the kitchen floor. Or perhaps you’re navigating the heavy silence of a teenager who suddenly treats you like a total stranger. It’s exhausting to always be the one 'in charge'—the logistics manager, the snack-getter, and the emotional anchor for everyone else. But look at Isaiah 40:11 again. God doesn't expect you to be a powerhouse today. He isn't barking orders or demanding a perfect performance. He is tending to you. He sees you carrying those 'lambs' (even the ones currently acting more like stubborn goats) and He promises to lead you gently. You don't have to have it all together or know the next ten steps. You just have to let Him carry the heavy stuff while you lean into His side. Take a breath, Mama. You aren't failing; you're being led. Even in the messy middle of a chaotic kitchen, He is holding you close to His heart.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank You for holding me close when I feel like I’m falling apart. Help me to stop trying to do it all and instead trust Your gentle lead today. Amen.
