The Shepherd Who Gently Leads You Today
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
You probably spent your morning being the Chief Fixer. You handled the mismatched socks, the tragic 'wrong color' bowl incident, and maybe even a teenage eye-roll that deserved an award for theatrics. It’s a lot, being the one everyone leans on. Some days it feels like you’re running a marathon while carrying a toddler on your hip and a mental grocery list in your head. But look at how God sees you in this verse. He doesn’t see a woman who’s 'falling behind' just because the laundry pile has reached sentient status. He sees a mother. He knows that those of us with little (or big) humans in tow move at a different pace. He isn't standing over you with a clipboard, checking off your failures. He’s right there in the thick of the noise, gathering the kids in His arms so you can catch your breath. Today, if you feel like you’re just barely holding it together, remember that you aren't being driven like cattle. You are being led—gently, kindly, and with so much love—by a Shepherd who knows exactly how heavy that diaper bag feels.
Lord, thank you for knowing exactly how tired I am today. Help me feel your gentle hand on my shoulder as I navigate the chaos, and remind me that I don't have to carry it all alone. Amen.
