When You Need a Gentle Hand to Hold
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
It’s Sunday morning, and you’ve likely already navigated a breakfast crisis, a missing shoe, and at least one 'I don’t want to go' meltdown. By the time you finally sit down, whether in a church pew or on your own living room couch, you’re already running on fumes. You spend so much of your life leading others—directing schedules, guiding tiny hearts, and herding little humans toward some semblance of civility. It is exhausting to be the one who has to have all the answers and all the energy. But look at how God sees you in this verse. He doesn't expect you to gallop or keep up with the people who travel light. He 'gently leads those that have young.' He knows your pace is slowed by sticky hands and heavy hearts. He isn't tapping His watch or asking why you’re lagging behind; He’s gathering you close. Whether you’re surviving the 'terrible twos' or the silent treatment from a teenager, remember that God’s grace is specifically tailored for the mom with kids in tow. You don’t have to be a powerhouse today. You just have to let Him lead you.
Jesus, thank You for being so gentle with me when the world feels loud and demanding. Help me to rest in Your lead today, knowing You see every small, hidden thing I do for my family. Amen.
