He Gathers You and Your Littles
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
It’s Monday morning, and you’re likely staring down a mountain of mismatched socks or nursing a lukewarm coffee while a toddler uses your yoga pants as a napkin. Mondays have a way of making the 'calling' of motherhood feel a lot like a 'clinch.' It’s easy to feel like you’re failing if you aren't hitting some invisible benchmark of productivity by noon. But look at Isaiah. God doesn't expect you to sprint through this week. He sees you—the one with the sticky-fingered toddlers or the teen who currently speaks exclusively in eye-rolls—and He 'gently leads' you. He isn't a drill sergeant barking orders from the sidelines; He’s a Shepherd who knows exactly how heavy that diaper bag (and your heart) feels today. Whether you’re navigating a meltdown in the grocery store or the quiet heavy-lifting of praying for a wayward child, His grace isn’t waiting for you at the finish line. It’s right here in the cereal crumbs. Take a breath, Mama. You don’t have to carry it all. He’s carrying you while you carry them.
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the middle of this messy Monday. Help me feel Your gentle lead when I’m overwhelmed, and remind me that I don’t have to be perfect to be loved by You. Amen.
