Gentle Hands for the Heavy Days

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he also gently leads those that have young.”

— Isaiah 40:11

It’s Wednesday, and let’s be honest: that 'new week energy' you had on Monday has officially left the building. You’re likely staring at a pile of laundry that looks more like a mountain range, and you’ve probably reheated your coffee at least three times already. Between the toddler’s sudden meltdown over a broken cracker and the nagging feeling that you’re forgetting a permission slip, it’s easy to feel like you’re just barely keeping your head above water. You spend so much time gathering your own little lambs—making sure they’re fed, clothed, and loved—that you forget you’re being gathered, too. Did you catch that last part of the verse? He gently leads *those that have young.* That’s you, mama. God isn’t standing over you with a clipboard, tallying your mistakes or judging your messy kitchen. He’s right there in the thick of the chaos with you. He knows your back aches and your heart is heavy with 'did I do enough?' thoughts. Today, stop trying to sprint. Let Him lead you at a pace of grace. You aren’t just the caregiver; you are the one being cared for by the King.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank you for meeting me in the middle of this messy Wednesday. Help me feel Your gentle hand on my shoulder today as I lead these little ones. Remind me that I don’t have to do it all perfectly because You’ve already got me. Amen.
