The Shepherd Who Gently Leads You
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
You know that feeling when you’re trying to herd everyone into the car and you’ve already lost your keys twice? Your internal monologue probably sounds a lot like a drill sergeant, and 'gentle' is likely the last word you’d use to describe your morning. Between the mysterious sticky spots on the floor and the mountain of socks that somehow lost their mates, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing the imaginary 'Perfect Mom' test. But look closely at today’s verse. God isn't behind you with a stopwatch, shouting for you to pick up the pace. He’s the Shepherd who gently leads those who have young. He knows you’re exhausted. He knows about the 3:00 AM nightmare and the heavy mental load of remembering everyone’s library book day. He’s not asking for a polished, high-speed version of you; He just wants to carry you while you carry them. Take a breath. Even if the kitchen is a disaster and you’re on your third cup of reheated coffee, you are being held. He’s not rushing you, Mama. He’s walking right beside you, and His grace is enough for every messy moment today.
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the crumbs and the chaos. Help me feel Your gentle hand leading me today when I feel like I'm falling behind. Amen.
