Finding Rest in His Gentle Lead

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”

— Isaiah 40:11

Hey you. Yeah, you with the lukewarm coffee and the pile of laundry that has officially claimed the guest chair as its own. It’s Friday, and if you’re anything like me, you’re currently calculating exactly how many hours of sleep you didn’t get last night because of a nightmare, a teething toddler, or a brain that simply won't shut off. We often feel like we have to sprint through our days, dragging our kids behind us as we check off a never-ending to-do list. But look at that verse again. God isn't a drill sergeant barking orders at you to 'keep up.' He is a Shepherd who 'gently leads those that have young.' He knows you’re tired. He knows your heart hurts when your teenager pushes you away, and your back hurts from picking up those tiny plastic bricks. He isn’t rushing you. He’s walking at your pace, making sure you don’t trip over the stray shoes in the hallway. Today, let yourself be led instead of trying to carry the whole world. He’s got the lambs—and He’s got you, too.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, thank You for meeting me right here in the mess of my kitchen and my heart. Help me feel Your gentle hand leading me today, especially when the noise gets loud and my patience gets thin. Amen.
