You Are Held Even on Hard Days
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
— Isaiah 40:29
Yesterday was a lot, wasn't it? Maybe the toddler melted down in the grocery store over the wrong color cup — yes, the cup — and you stood there in the cereal aisle wondering if anyone has ever actually dissolved into the floor tiles. Maybe your teenager looked right through you like you were a piece of furniture with a debit card. Maybe you just lay in bed last night running through everything you forgot to do, everything you said wrong, everything you should have been more of. Here's what I want you to hear this Thursday morning: God is not keeping score the way you are. He sees the weary version of you — the one with dry shampoo and yesterday's mascara — and He is not disappointed. He is not waiting for you to get it together before He shows up. He is already here, already filling in the gaps, already calling what you did today enough. The strength you needed? He's got more. You don't have to manufacture it. Just open your hands.
God, I am running low and You already know it — thank You for not requiring me to pretend otherwise. Fill me today with exactly what I need to love these people well. That's all I'm asking.
