You Are Held Even on Hard Days

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”

— Isaiah 40:11

Did you catch that last part? He gently leads those that have young. Not pushes. Not rushes. Gently leads. God looked down at every exhausted, snack-dispensing, permission-slip-losing mom and said — she gets gentleness. You do not have to sprint through this season, even when it feels like everything is on fire at once. Maybe this week had a tantrum in Target, a teenager who slammed a door hard enough to rattle the picture frames, or a night where you were so tired you put the cereal in the fridge and the milk in the cabinet. God is not standing over you with a clipboard scoring your performance. He is walking beside you, pace matched to yours, knowing exactly what it costs to have small people — or big ones — depending on you every single day. You are not falling behind. You are being gently led. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, on the days I feel like I am barely keeping up, remind me that You set the pace and it is always one I can handle with You beside me. Thank You for seeing exactly what this season costs me and calling it worthy of Your gentleness. Amen.
