You Are Held Even When You're Barely Holding
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
Did you catch that last part? 'He gently leads those that have young.' Not 'he drives them hard' or 'he expects them to keep pace with everyone else.' Gently. He knows you have little ones clinging to your legs. He knows about the 2 a.m. wake-up that turned into a 4 a.m. wake-up that turned into just-stay-awake-now. He knows about the teenager who looked at you yesterday like you were the world's biggest inconvenience — and how that look sat in your chest all evening. God doesn't look at your exhaustion and see weakness. He looks at it and leans in closer. The same God who flung stars into place is also the God who adjusts His pace for you — specifically because you are pouring yourself out for someone small and beloved and completely dependent on you. That is not a burden He resents. That is a life He honors. You are not falling behind. You are being gently led.
Lord, on the days when I feel like I'm running on fumes and good intentions, remind me that You are not in a hurry with me. Lead me gently today, and let me feel the weight of Your arms holding what I cannot carry alone. Amen.
