You Are Held Even When You're Spent
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
— Isaiah 40:29
You know that moment around 2pm — or maybe 2am — when you have absolutely nothing left? You've answered the same question eleven times, refereed a argument over a juice box, sent a text that went ignored, and quietly eaten crackers over the sink because sitting down felt like too much of a commitment. That moment is real. And here's what I need you to hear: God is not waiting for you to rally. He's not standing at the finish line of a better, more put-together version of your day. He's right here, in this depleted, slightly sticky version of it. Isaiah wasn't writing to people who had it together. He was writing to a people who were exhausted and far from home, wondering if God had forgotten them. Sound familiar? He hadn't forgotten them. He hasn't forgotten you. The strength He offers isn't a pep talk — it's a transfer. He sees your empty and meets it with His more-than-enough. You don't have to manufacture energy you don't have. You just have to let Him carry what you can't.
God, I'm running on fumes today and You already know it. Fill in the gaps I can't cover and remind me that my weakness is not a surprise to You. Thank You for being strong enough for both of us.
