Finding Your Pace in the Gentle Lead
“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
It’s Monday morning, and if you’re anything like me, you’re already eyeing the coffee pot like it’s a long-lost friend. Between the pile of laundry that seems to breed overnight and the toddler who decided 5:00 AM was the perfect time for a living room concert, 'strength' feels less like a reality and more like a legend you once heard about. You’re doing the heavy lifting of raising humans—the kind of work that leaves your soul a little dusty and your patience thin. But look at that verse again. God isn’t standing over you with a clipboard, checking off your productivity. He isn’t demanding you sprint through the 'nursery years' or the 'moody teen years.' He is gently leading you. He knows that when you’re carrying a baby on one hip and a heavy mental load on the other, you can’t run a marathon. He meets you right there in the messy kitchen, offering a pace that honors your weariness. You don’t have to be a superhero today; you just have to be His. He’s got the lambs, and He’s got you, too.
Lord, thank You for seeing the work I do that no one else notices. Help me feel Your gentle lead today when the noise gets loud and my energy is low. Amen.
