You Are Held in the Waiting

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Here's something wild — Lamentations, the most grief-soaked book in the Bible, is where we find one of the most hopeful verses ever written. The author wasn't having a good day. Or a good season. And yet, right in the middle of the mess, he looked up and said: His mercies are new every morning. Mom, that means yesterday's lost temper doesn't follow you into today. The permission slip you forgot, the dinner that came from a box, the moment you locked yourself in the bathroom just to breathe — none of that canceled God's compassion for you. This morning is genuinely, actually new. Not because you've earned a reset, but because that's just who He is. You don't have to perform your way into grace today. You just have to wake up — which, honestly, given how little sleep you got, is already impressive. His faithfulness showed up before your coffee did. That's worth holding onto.

Today’s Prayer

God, thank You that Your mercies didn't wait for me to have it together before they arrived this morning. Hold me together today in all the places I feel like I'm fraying. You are enough, and somehow that makes me enough too.
