Carried When You Are Doing the Carrying

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”

— Isaiah 40:11

You’ve spent the last hour playing referee over a single blue crayon or navigating the silent treatment from your thirteen-year-old. Your arms are literally full of laundry and figuratively full of everyone’s big emotions. It’s a lot to carry, isn't it? We often feel like we have to be the strongest ones in the room, the ones with all the answers and the endless snacks. But look at that promise in Isaiah. God isn’t standing over you with a clipboard, checking off your failures or demanding you run faster. He’s tending to you. He sees the way you pour yourself out until the pitcher is dry. On those days when you feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water—or at least above the pile of dishes—remember that He isn’t just leading the flock; He is specifically gentle with you because you have young ones. He knows your pace is slower, your heart is heavier, and your sleep is shorter. Today, let Him carry the heavy stuff while you just focus on walking beside Him. You don’t have to do it all; you just have to be held.

Today’s Prayer

Jesus, thank You for holding me when I feel like I'm falling apart. Help me to feel Your gentle lead today and remind me that I don't have to carry this load alone.
